Recently, the prototype of the CGC series ultra-high pressure compressor (secondary machine), independently developed by the Reciprocating Compressor Division of Shengu Group, has successfully passed the appraisal organized by China General Machinery Industry Association. The appraisal committee concluded that the key performance indicators of the CGC series test prototype are equivalent to those of international counterparts. The prototype meets the conditions for industrial mass production and is ready for industrial application.

The "Crown Jewel" of the Industry Long Monopolized by Foreign Giants
As the core critical equipment for LDPE/EVA polyethylene production plants, ultra-high pressure compressors are well-deservedly hailed as the "crown jewel" of reciprocating compressors, and they were the last and most formidable barrier to domestic localization in the past.
In production processes, this equipment undertakes the core task of secondary pressurization of high-pressure gas. It compresses media at 30 MPa up to 300 MPa to meet polymerization reaction requirements. The equipment operates under extremely harsh working conditions: ultra-high operating pressure and massive integrated rod loads impose near-extreme technical requirements on structural design, advanced new materials, precision machining and assembly, as well as complete set engineering support.
For decades, only two overseas enterprises worldwide have mastered mature manufacturing technology for such large-scale compressor units. Complete reliance on imported core equipment has severely restricted the independent controllability and long-term stable development of China’s high-end polyethylene industrial chain.

International Benchmark Parameters & Modular Design Adaptable to Industrial Capacity Requirements
The core pressure-bearing components of the CGC series ultra-high pressure compressor are designed for a pressure rating of 350 MPa. The unit features a maximum allowable rod load of 3000 kN, a maximum stroke of 450 mm, and a rated rotational speed of 200 r/min. A single unit can be fitted with up to 12 cylinders, with a maximum power output of 34,000 kW. Its overall technical parameters match the performance standards of international equivalent products.
Developed with a modular design, the unit can accurately cater to the ultra-high pressure compressor demands of LDPE/EVA plants with an annual output of 60,000 to 350,000 tons by flexibly adjusting parameters including cylinder quantity, plunger diameter and crankshaft stroke.
The prototype has completed a series of high-standard tests, including the 350 MPa static pressure resistance test, overall mechanical running test and specified load test. These tests have effectively verified the reliability and matching performance of the unit’s mechanical design, manufacturing & assembly and auxiliary systems, providing solid data support for industrial implementation.
Shared Test Platform to Drive Comprehensive Industrial Advancement
Leveraging the development of the CGC prototype, Shengu has deployed special processing equipment, testing instruments and test facilities, and built a dedicated load test platform for ultra-high pressure compressors.
